Gmail Tip: Muting and Unmuting conversation threads

Tips and Tricks
I accidentally learned a new Gmail trick today. I was viewing an email and accidentally hit the 'm' key on my keyboard. This apparently mutes the conversation making that thread disappear from your inbox. This is a cool trick on its own, but what happens if you want to unmute it? In your Gmail search you can enter: is:muted, and you will see a list of all muted threads. To unmute, click into one and choose "Move to Inbox" in the select box at the top.

When you Archive, if a new message gets attached to that conversation, it's marked New and moved to your Inbox.

When Muted, if a new message gets attached to the conversation, the conversation will NOT be marked New and it won't be moved to your Inbox.

Quite useful for some of the conversations on CF-TALK, for instance.

Great example Al! That is exactly what I applied it to.

Wendy, you can totally do what I did. As we announced here ( http://staff.instantspot.com/blog/index.cfm/2006/1... ) you can now completely customize your CSS in the control panel. You can see by this Spot, Aaron's Spot at ( http://www.aaronjlynch.com ) or by Chris' Spot at ( http://chris.instantspot.com ), there are a lot of ways this can be approached. In fact, Chris has mentioned making a site that offers InstantSpot CSS layouts. Unless of course someone else beats him to it. :)
